As a marketer, being actively engaged on all marketing platforms can take up A LOT of time.
And it can be tough to consistently create fresh video content for each and every channel.
That’s why it’s important to maximize your investment in any video by repurposing it to create multiple pieces of content, formatted to suit all of your channels — both internal and external. By doing this, you’ll reach a wider audience (no matter where they hang out online) and boost brand awareness.
Plus, remember the Rule of 7 in marketing?
Each repurposed video will act as one of the “seven touches” needed to get your audience to absorb your message and take action.
Get started by selecting one of your favorite videos (it could be a POW, PUSH or PULL video — learn more about those here) and repurpose it into different pieces of marketing content.
Here are 28 ideas:
1. Share Quote Tweets: 15 pieces of content
Write out the best soundbites from your video as individual quotes and tweet them out with a link back to the full video.
Each unique quote will capture the attention of Twitter users differently and with the super fast pace of Twitter, you can share 15 of these quote tweets over the course of a week (3x a day Monday to Friday) to drive awareness and traffic to your video.

2. Format it for the Instagram Feed: 1 piece of content
Just because your video is over 1 minute long doesn’t mean you can’t share it with the Instagram world. Here’s how to quickly reformat it so you can share it on your feed:
- First, to take up more real estate on a screen, change the dimensions of your video so it is in a square shape (1:1 or 1080×1080) rather than the standard rectangle (16:9, 1920×1080 and adjust any images and graphics so they fit inside the square.
- Then, cut the new square video into 2 one-minute files
From there, you can upload your 2 new video files to your Instagram feed and viewers will just swipe left to watch the full video, in 2 parts!

3. Tease it in Instagram Story: 5 pieces of content
Take a 5 seven-second clips from your video and reformat them into vertical videos (9:16, 1080×1920) that you can upload on to your Instagram Story.
Once they’re uploaded, add text and gifs to jazz up the mini teasers and direct viewers to watch the full video either on your Instagram Feed, in the link your profile or SWIPE UP to watch it (if you have the ability to link it that way).

4. Turn the Audio into a Podcast: 1 piece of content
It’s important to remember that people learn and prefer to absorb information differently.
If your video is an informative interview or an educational piece, an easy way to connect with a larger audience is export the audio from the video and turn that audio file into its own podcast.
Don’t have an official podcast yet? No worries!
Sign up to SoundCloud and upload your audio there. Simply add in a title and description of the episode and bam: you’re reaching people who prefer to learn on the go!

5. Write a Blog on the Same Subject: 6 pieces of content
Tap into the value of SEO and write a blog post on the same subject of your original video.
Publish that post not only on your website but also on LinkedIn, Medium and share 3 text blurbs from the blog post on Facebook. Make sure to include the original video in your blog post so readers can watch it directly on the webpage.
When we created a video about EditMate’s new Video Uploader, we also wrote a blog post about it with a FAQ section, answering questions people might have about the new tool.
Check it out here for inspiration about how to build a blog post around your own video.
?>> HOT TIP: If you want to boost SEO on your video even more, when you upload your video to YouTube, also upload a transcript or caption file.
A transcript file is a file that includes every word said in your video, and a caption file includes those words on the screen (like subtitles). They make your videos more scrapable by search bots since there’s additional text on the page and make the video more search engine friendly!
As you can see, you can leverage one short video to generate a ton of different marketing content across every channel.
Creating this much content from one video is a great way to show off your marketing prowess and creativity without blowing up your budget.
Repurposing content is an easy way to maximize your ROI, boost brand awareness, reach new audiences and spark sales.
